Isn't it nice to see someone you know on a front page of Vanity Fair For Geeks?

Ivan is a nice and easy going person, a free spirit of sort. Certainly not someone who will easily bow to the powers above. That makes his move to Apple even more interesting.

In my perspective, someone with such open and free mind can not give his/her best in a corporate enviroment. I am eager to hear from him how was it to work in Apple, how the Steve Jobs Distortion Field affects logic and reasoning (this one is going to be interesting analysis!), and what motivated him to leave the company.

Yes, I am evil bastard, an evilmonger who doesn't believe in his long and great career in Apple. I do give him a year, two at most. In that time, he will introduce some improvements in OS X security, probably affect some other areas of OS development, meet some nice people there; if he's smart, he will take some Apple stock as well. The company will benefit from him, and he will benefit from the company. However, he is never going to let himself drown in corporate affairs and daily routine. Therefore I prophet - a year or two of mutual benefit for both parties, not more.

I am looking forward to having a drink on a beach near Melbourne with him in a few years. I'm sure he will have some nice stories to share. :-)
